We haven't had a whole lot going on. We have gotten a lot of rain over the last couple of weeks. I would guess we've gotten 25-30 inches. So much rain for such a short period. So now we wait for everything to dry up. In the meantime, the Mosquitos are growing and eating Shelby and me up. So we head in before the sun goes down. Unfortunately the heat during the day gets to us as well. The heat index has gotten up into the 100 degrees. Very hot and humid as the sun dries up all the mud and puddles.
I am anxious to ride badger on Monday. He is looking great and we are anxious to get out there to chase some cans. I have two weeks to get him in some sort of shape. :-)
Shelby is learning more and more each day. Today she learned out to say home and how to dunk a basketball. A friend of ours gave us a small basketball hoop and nerf ball. She is also learning some sign language and knows how to use it when she wants something. For example she'll sign the word 'more' and say 'help please'. when she wants chocolate. Pretty sure she'd do a back flip too if she could. :-)
She would whine a lot when she wanted something so we had to work on teaching her not to whine and to say help please. She is pretty good at using her words.
Today she was hitting me and wouldn't stop. So Ryan got her on her butt. She cried briefly, which tore my heart out but then I told her it wasn't nice to hit mommy and said some other things thinking she doesn't understand me. I then said 'do you understand?'. She shook her head yes i then told her I loved her and asked for a kiss. Surprisingly she got up and gave me a kiss. Ryan then got a kiss. Amazing how much she understands! Wow!
Well I am typing this on my iPhone and my fingers are hurting so I will write more later.

Fun Pictures
We had a busy weekend with two barrel races. Heaven for me, but not so much for Ryan since he had Shelby a whole lot. I do appreciate him letting me go on Sunday as well I had really bad run Saturday and I am not sure if I could've lived with it.
I exhibitioned shiner and we did much better on Sunday winning a check in the 3D again. That's more like it! He is just not ready to add speed to the first barrel yet.

Rented
We got our rent house rented! Thank God! The people seem really nice and have already done a lot to clean the place up. Everything is in God's timing and we just have to remember to wait til the timing is right. We both believe this was it.
I am anxious to chase those cans again, tomorrow. I am ready to run with Shiner again. We are becoming a great team and I am enjoying it.
I hope to get some work done on Badger and start running him again as well. I am going to try and get him into the vet this coming week. Then we'll be ready to kick some butt again.
God has, as always, blessed us again by opening some new doors for me. I have 1 outside horse that is coming along very nicely and I have another one coming in sometime next week. I am excited to break this horse because she is Easy Jet on Top and bottom. I love that bloodline so I am anxious to start working her next week.
Ryan is hog hunting tonight. That is his sport of choice. He said they killed two so far tonight.
I guess that is it for now. Things are looking up for us and we are ready for some easier times.

Busy busy busy
I have picked up several summer jobs with the district as well as riding an outside horse. So my days feel non stop. Ryan, too, has been blessed w/ a lot of horses! God is good. He has provided us with lots of work so we will put our heads down and work til the work is done!
Today, i got up early to ride and got in b4 everyone else was up. I am enjoying the peace and taking some time to write here.
Lots has been going on. We have two leads on our rent house. We are praying for right decisions to be made. When I know for sure of the details I will be sure to share with you.
I looked at getting Internet at home i was going to get Clear for $40 a month but is is not available in my town. So the only option is an air card at $60 a month. That is not doable for us right now. So we wait. My iPhone does most everything and there is free wifi in needville if I need it.

New Challenges
I am up early listening to Pastor Joel Osteen. I love when God's word speaks so clearly to me. Today's message is about God's timing and how it may not be our timing.
I also received something on Facebook called Mobile Ministries. That message today was same. (Yes God I hear you!)
I have had a hard time at times having faith that God will provide for us during these hard times. Yet, he continues to open financial doors for us and continues to support us each month.
I was sad to work so much this summer because I so wannted to be with Shelby this summer.
I only had to work 8 or so days this summer. Then I picked up another summer job writing curriculum for the district. That filled up all of June except Fridays. That changed because all of us couldn't get together. Instead we were to work on our own with set deadlines. That opened up a lot of days for Shelby and I to be together. :-) I waittil she goes to bed and then I am able to work. (2 birds, 1 stone)
Just this past week my faith began to waivor a little. I had to do a lot of praying and reminding myself God would provide us with the extra money to pay our rent house mortgage.
Yesterday we got the confirmation that I would be having an outside horse coming in for me to break. Yet another form of income that barely effects my time w/Shelby.
Finally, Ryan's job has prolly tripled in size over th last few months. During a time of recession Ryan's job triples in size. Amazing? Nope - God is providing. (God is determined to break these chains of financial fear for me!)
I tell you all of this so you can think about what God has done for you. Sometimes things may not happen the way we want, but that is because God has the right door for you to walk through you just have to wait for the timing. God doesn't want mediocre for his children. He wants the very best. Our family is waiting for the very best and depending on Him to provide it in His timing.
I have been told to just dump the house even if it is at a loss. I would if that is what I felt God has layed on my heart. But I don't. I believe God has a plan for us to sell and actually make some sort of profit. So, we wait. We walk to the open door, but pray if it is the wrong door that it be closed and locked so it is real clear what we are to do.
We look forward to walking through that door while looking back and giving God all the glory!
As you go through this week remember to rejoice and be thankful for what you have while giving God all the glory!

Summer Time
I wrote this Monday, but just getting a chance to upload today.
My summer has officially begun. I was able to close up my labs and move out of one of my schools as it is being renovated this summer. It will be interesting to see what it looks like in two months.
This weekend was a fun weekend. Saturday I had a barrel race in Wharton. I was anxious to run as it has been a couple of weeks since I ran and even longer since I ran Shiner. I was a bit nervous to run Shiner as he is still a novice and he hadn’t seen a barrel in a while. I worked him a little on a light pole (the only ‘barrel’ I could find on decent ground) to get him thinking about his job and seeing if he was going to listen to me. He actually showed a side of laziness. I had seen it while exercising him, but not when practicing the barrels. I had forgotten my spurs, so I had to use my whip to wake him up a bit. Once he realized I meant business he perked up and started getting snappier while practicing our turns.
I decided I was going to go ahead and let him run in. I usually slow him down a tad and get him focused and ready for the first barrel. But, since he was listening so well and making a real nice turn, I decided to go for it. So we went running in there, not SUPER fast, but at a quicker pace. He made a real nice turn on the first and I was pretty pumped! We did a nice turn on the 2nd, but he stepped out a bit. It was still really good for him though. I quit riding a little bit going to the third. I guess I was super excited as our run was going really well. Anyhow, he stepped out of the turn even more on the third, but that was rider error. I didn’t check him like I should have to give him warning to get his hind end underneath and ready for the turn. So, we lost some time there. Ryan said we also lost a little time on the 2nd. With all of that, he still ran in the 3D with a 16.215. He placed 3rd in the 3D and brought home yet another check! All I could think is I can only imagine what he’d do if I rode him and seasoned him the way he deserved. With work, the rent house, Shelby and life I have not been able to ride but 1x maybe 2x a week. So, I’m VERY proud of Shiner and how he continues to improve on his own. I deal him a bad hand and he still comes out with an ace in the hole! Maybe that should be his new nick name, Ace! Just kidding Nancy!
I also ran Twister. Unfortunately I saw that he was sore in his back end. He wasn’t putting a lot of weight on his back right leg. We gave him some bute and Ryan did some chiropractic work on him. When I warmed him up, I could feel he was a little choppy and was still sore. He still went in there and gave me his all. He was the last horse of 145 horses to run and the last on the drag. So, the odds were against him. He still ran as hard as he could and pushed himself. I could feel he was a little slow, and the timer proved me right. He was a second off of his time and just out of the money in another division. I was still proud of him and all of his efforts. He is just so tough! He also has such a competitive heart.
Since he is hurting, we have decided to put him out in the pasture and take some time off. Normally we’d have some work done on him, but with the rent house we just have no extra cash. Poor guy. He deserves to be taken care of. Hopefully time will heal him and we’ll be able to get him up and going again.
With that said, Ryan has been pushing me to get back on Badger. If you remember, I won the Novice saddle on him last year. Since Twister is out, I decided it was time to pull Badger back up and start getting him legged up. I have two weeks befor e the next GCBRA. Not working everyday I hope to have time to ride him a few times a week along with Shiner and Cowgirl. Badger will need some work on the barrels with slow and fast work. But, I think he’ll be ready to go for the GCBRA June 26th. He may not be what he was last year, but he’ll be competitive. I’ll see how his hocks hold up.
As you can see maintaining barrel horses, or any performance horse, can be expensive. Good thing God blessed us with several nice horses that I can pull up as needed. I guess not for long! HA! Shelby will be stealing all my barrel horses before I know it! That’s ok! I can’t wait to go riding and barrel racing with her. I am also looking forward to all of us roping together.
Sunday Shelby and I went to church while Ryan stayed home and shred the big pasture. We are expecting some rain this week and we wanted to cut down the weeds so the grass can grow once it rains. The pastures look really nice this year! I hope it stays that way!! Sure helps with our feed bill. We are feeding once a day and very little at that (except Shiner, he requires a lot of feed) and they are all fat little ticks out there!
I rode Badger and ponied Shiner. It was about 95 degrees so we only went around the big pasture three times. It was just too hot to do anymore than that. I then got out Cowgirl and ponied her around with Badger under the trees behind our barn. She is just learning to pony so we only walked and did a little trotting.
Sunday evening we went to the Boaz’s and hung out . It was nice to relax and hang with friends.
It is now 11 pm and time for me to go to bed. I hve to work a ½ day tomorrow (summer job) so I plan to get up early and go ride again. Then off to teach Google Earth to some teachers. Google Earth is pretty cool, but a lot to remember. I plan to go in early and review some of the things I haven’t done yet so I’m ready to go. Tuesday and Wednesday I’m teaching 8 different sessions of Movie Maker and how to use it to create Book Trailers. I’m pretty excited about that class. I sure hope the teachers enjoy it.
