I keep forgetting to take pictures, but I thought I would share this experience and then add the picture later...We have HUGE trees on our property. Some of these trees must be at least 50+ years old! We have a small catch pen to the left of our barn where we have two HUGE trees that shade it all day long. Anyhow, we walked out one day to find half of a tree (which looks like a whole tree because it is so big) laying across the pasture. It looks like the limbs got too heavy and that part of the tree fell down. We believe the tree is an oak tree, but it might be Pecan. If anyone is interested in some free wood, please get with us. It is HUGE and we need to get it removed. The wood will be great for BBQ or for camp fires...or whatever you want to use it for (keep it legal!)...we just need it gone!
This has also been an adventure for me at Lowe's. We are in the process of pulling out our very nasty and dirty living room and hallway carpet so we can replace it with a wood floor. Easy, right? HECK NO...after spending two hours a night at Lowe's for two nights I finally learned enough about laminate, wood, and engineered wood flooring. So, I take home my two samples and come back the next day to make the purchase. Only to find out that what I wanted was no longer being manufactured. Boy was I frustrated. So, Tye (the Lowe's guy in Rosenberg who is very helpful) and I went back to the drawing board. We found two more choices that were similar to my original...so we checked and...just my luck this week...they were no longer being manufactured. Oh, I forgot to mention...they quit manufacturing them two days prior to me ordering. Sooooooo....we looked some more and everything else I liked was over the price range I was willing to pay. We did find one I liked, but it was $1 more a sq. ft. ...Tye, being the nice person he was, went to his manager and got him/her to let me have that more expensive flooring for the same price as what I was going to buy since they had nothing else to offer me. But, then, i wasn't sure if I liked it cause it was a 5" plank and the one I had picked out was a 2 1/4" plank...so Tye went to lunch and I went to do the rest of my errands in Lowes and to think about what I wanted to do. An hour later, I decided to buy it. I realized that the wider plank will make our floor look more spacious which is what we need and I'm just not that picky to fuss over something like that. So, I ordered the flooring last night and it will be delivered sometime next week. I'm good with my decision and I am looking forward to seeing it!
Ryan's parents are coming in sometime around June 15th to visit and help us put the flooring in. So, I am going to paint the kitchen, living room and hallway b4 they come so everything will be fresh by the time they leave. I can't wait for the finished product. As much of a nightmare as this turned out to be I'm very anxious to see how nice our house will look w/this new flooring.
And...incase you are wondering....no I have not even started on the baby's room! I still have my clothes all over the place. I'll probably clean out my clothes in July and I don't want to decorate until after I know what we're having...that is if he/she cooperates! I may paint since we'll probably go with a taupe color on the walls. It's a given that we'll decorate cowboy or cowgirl...so that color will go w/either a boy or girl scheme. I hope to find out June 10th what we're having. Until then...you'll have to be patient and wait!!!

Long Weekend
Boy was it nice having an extra day this weekend. I know I sure enjoyed it. I find taking naps sure helps get through the hot part of the day and helps me function and be productive in the evenings. I guess the baby is still sucking all of my energy! Perhaps the baby is growing. According to my belly, I believe that is the case. :) It seems to grow more each day.
This Memorial Day weekend was very nice. We didn't do a whole lot on Saturday, but Sunday we went to Sargeant to meet up with some friends on the beach. I haven't bought a bathing suit yet, so I didn't go to far into the water, but just sitting out on the beach was so nice. It's amazing how that environment can make you feel so relaxed. It was also fun hanging out with some old friends as well as meeting new friends. We are looking forward to going back and joining everyone again in the near future. It is only an hour drive so it makes for a nice day trip.
We have also begun working with our younger horses. I think I am going to be officially labeled the "Round Pen Queen." Ha! Since I am not riding very often I have found new pleasure with working the horses in the round pen. I usually hate it, but it is a way to help Ryan and still interact with the horses. Anyhow, I started working our stud colt, Bobalou, and he is doing so well. He just doesn't care and is so willing to do what you ask. He doesn't fuss or want to kick out when he is fresh. Everytime I work him I dream about riding him. I CANNOT WAIT! Seeing him do so well in the round pen has motivated Ryan to want to start saddling him and then breaking him. He has finally gotten big enough and continues to grow. It's gotta be that Skipper W in him! Good thing he has good, strong hooves and big strong legs to go with his body. Mito was called up to be a 'ranch horse' today. I am anxious to hear how he does. He has really filled out as well and has gotten a lot stronger! Ryan was going to take an outside horse, but he has some sores where the girth goes so Mito was called up to the position. I think it is great! This is yet another really nice horse. He is for sale, so hopefully the miles he gets today will help him be more marketable. If we don't sell him, I'll begin training him on barrels in January for a couple of months and then get more serious about selling him. It seems most people want a horse that is already patterned for barrels. Whoever gets him will have one heck of a horse!!!
The filly is doing very well too. We have been putting her in the cyclone fence area by our house so she can get some green grass to help with her weight gain. She is lonely, but none of our horses are nice enough to put her w/them. Well, Mito is, but we don't have an extra pasture. So, she gets to be up there by herself. Hopefully the fence will be built soon and she'll be put out to pasture. In the meantime she is still learning we are not monsters and we will not attack her. We have to leave a halter and lead rope on her to catch her. She is learning and she is getting better with leading. She still needs a lot of desensitizing, but she will learn and I'm sure she'll turn into something great. We are still thinking about names. I wanted to name her Princess, but Ryan didn't like that. I might still call her that...We are also considering Cowgirl. So, we'll see!
We are also very excited about Nancy and Dick making a trip down here. This is Nancy's first grandchild and she LOVES garage sale-ing....so apparentely they have a PILE of baby stuff including toys, clothes, etc. We got pictures of the stuff yesterday. Wow, is all I can say! They also found us a BEAUTIFUL crib made out of solid wood! What a deal! The pictures really helped Ryan and I with the reality of we need a lot of stuff!!
That's about it for now...I'm back to work...and counting down the days til Summer. Our kids last day is June 5th and ours is June 6th. I'M SO READY! It didn't help when JoLynn called and let me know she was done last week. Normally we are too, but they changed our schedule. So, that stinks!!

Baby Movement
Yesterday evening was an exciting moment for Ryan and me. We got to feel the baby move. Well, actually, kick! It was a very new experience for me and Ryan couldn't believe how fiesty his child was. What an amazing experience and how cool to experience it together. I had felt this but just thought it was some sort of cramps from the baby growing.
It appears this baby is very active as he/she kept kicking over and over again. Especially when Ryan would push on my belly a little bit. What a miraculous experience! We are so blessed!
We also have a new addition to our horse family. We have decided to purchase a filly from a friend of ours with plans to breed her down the road. Our stud colt, Bobalou, is turning into quite the looker so we may keep him as a stud. He is very calm and gentle as a 2 year old so we are hopeful that great personality will stay even as he learns he is a stud.
Anyhow, to keep our ag exempt on our property we have to bale hay or breed horses. Since our property is quickly filling up with fences and horses we thought we might consider trying a little breeding. I have to do some more research to be sure we are following our county guidelines to keep our ag exempt if we were to change to the 'breeding' status.
The new filly (She just turned 1 YO) had not been messed with as she was out in the pasture being a horse and so we have been working hard to halter break her and teach her to lead around. She only took 2 days and had that figured out already. We are now working on teaching her that it is ok if we want to come up to her and pet on her or put a lead line on her. She is very smart and has become my project since I'm not able to ride and I can't help Ryan w/his outside horses other than feeding and moving them around in the pastures. So, that has brought some new life back in me. I've really missed that part of my life....the riding and enjoying our horses. I still ride, but not very often and only one of our horses. So, that is pretty boring.
Now, the next fun process...thinking of a 'barn name' for her. Her registered name is "OK Juanitas TX Cowgirl". I'm considering Cowgirl, but not sold on it. She needs a strong, powerful, winning name...so I'll take the time and make sure she gets the perfect name. If you have any suggestions, feel free to put them in the 'comments' section. I do read what you write us!

Nothing Special
The weather has been so dry here. We really need some rain. It sprinkled over the weekend. It seems whenever we decide to build fence it rains! We put in the corner posts to build the fence in our front yard. That is such a slow and tedious job. Yuck! You have to make sure the measurements are right, etc. It is also hard to dig holes when the ground is so dry! So, it took us all afternoon to put in eight 6x8 posts. Our goal is to fence of the left side of our property to put horses on it and rotate the pastures. We will eventually fence off the entire front yard and have gates on our drive way. That will be hard because our lawn is so beautiful when it is freshly cut. However, Ryan and I are so not into mowing lawn!
Speaking of, last night I decided to mow the strip of grass that leads out to the barn. All was good until the lawn mower started sounding funny. I was worried that it might be the pin breaking again. If only! The whole motor decided to freeze up! ARG! We have two riding lawn mowers so we have a back up. But it sucks when you have a couple of acres to mow and only one lawn mower. So, we are not sure what we will do. If we can't fix it we hope to at least sell it for parts and look for another one. We defiantly have to get the blades fixed on the big lawn mower now so we can move past the turtle speed!!
We only have a couple of more weeks left of school. Yes! I'm chomping at the bit this year for summer. Unfortunately we don't get out til June 6th (kids get out June 5). Normally we are out the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. They changed it this year. Someone decided that the end of August is a lot cooler than the middle of August for the sports teams.

Baby Bump
Well, the baby has finally decided to show, so we took a picture last night so y'all can see what it looks like. I know some are more excited than others. If anything, think of this as cheap entertainment! HA!
We also have 8 baby birds growing underneath our shop overhang. You can't see them very well, but they are too cute so I had to take a picture of them as well. :) The joys of the country life!

NYC - The pics
I'm back to Texas life. What an experience NYC was, but I was glad and ready to come home. I loved experiencing it and spending time with Stacy, but I was so happy to be back home on our 21 acres and to have grass and trees with no HUGE buildings.
My last day was a wash out. It rained so I took an earlier flight and got back to our house by 7:40 PM. Sure beats the 1 AM time I originally had planned. I would've stayed and taken the boat tour to see the Statue of Liberty, but with the rain I scratched that and left early. I also was starting to get sick. I guess with all the traveling and with all the people I caught something. I'm starting to get over it, so that is good. I was pretty sick Monday and Tuesday, but I feel better today. I am giving a district test in the lab for 5th grade so I couldn't take anymore sick days this week. Oh well...at least I'm feeling a lot better today! Even the teachers said I look better today and I don't look so pale. What a long day yesterday was! I was supposed to go to a ceremony to accept two grants I wrote, but I just went home and slept.
We then had to meet up with a lady who wanted to put a contract on our house. She low balled (sp?) us so we will counter offer. If she doesn't take it then we'll just keep it on the market or rent it out. It's worth what we are asking. She tried to compare our home with the value of foreclosures. I know how all that works and I am not going to put our house in the same market value as a foreclosure. They are two different spectrums. So, she probably won't end up buying it. If not, that is ok. God has a better plan for us and this house!
Oh, the baby is growing too! I plan to take pics of us very soon. Let me get to feeling 100% again and get caught up on everything around the house.

NYC - Day 4 - Raining :(
Today it is raining. Arg...so my plans have been scrapped to go on the boat ride today. I'm also very tired as yesterday and Saturday were very eventful. So, I'm working on moving my flight up. There is concern because of the rain that there may be delays, so I'm hoping to make the 2:30 flight.
On a good note...We saw Lion King yesteray and it was AWESOME! WOWZA! There are no words to describe it. From the moment the curtain opened I was glued to the show. The costumes, the music, the performance...it blew me away! If you ever get a chance to go see you have to! It's a bit expensive, but well worth it.
After that we went to lunch at Playwright. It is somewhere on Times Square. It was ok...but it was probably what I ordered! HA!
After lunch we went to The Top of the Rock...(Rockfeller). That was really cool too. Most people go to the top of the Empire State building because it is more popular. We chose the Rock because it is not as busy and you get a 360 degree view. It was amazing. We were 69 floors up and outside so I got some really cool pics of the entire city. I can't wait to share them with y'all! What an amazing view.
It also make me think of 9/11. I thought about the people who may have been on top of the Rock when the planes came flying in to hit the WTC towers. I can't imagine how horrible it must've been.
I wanted to go back to Ground Zero one more time, but that is ok. There is not a lot to see right now other than a big hole like I described the other day. I'm glad I accidently stumbled acrossed it on Friday.
Overall what an amazing trip. I'm tired and I have seen so much of NYC...the tourist side and the local side. I feel so fortunate to have Stacy drag me all over the city. :) What a great trip.
Hopefully I'll be flying home early today and getting a good nights sleep.

NYC - Day 2
Last night we went to STOMP. That was super cool! It's amazing how they make music from everyday objects such as plastic bags, brooms, car rims, and a zillion other everyday objects. They also throw in some comedy. So it was great! It was also super cool because it was a really small venue...maybe 180 people...so you were super close to the stage! Tomorrow we are going to go see Lion King. I can't wait!
Today was CRAZY! We started out by taking the subway to Times Square and do the touristy thing. I took some fun pictures of all the typical stuff. I'll add the pics when I get back to Texas. Then, we walked and walked and walked...you do that a lot in NYC. Anyhow, we did some shopping and I found some really cute dress pants that will go w/a new shirt I just bought in Texas.
After that, we went to Stacy's cousins jewelry store, Blancpain. It is a luxury division of the Swatch group. I even tried on a $32,000 dollar watch. I added that picture in for fun even though you can't see it very well. It was beautiful! Oh, the life of the rich and famous. I asked her how many sales they do a day since it is so high end and she said their goal for the day was to make 3 sales.
After that we walked some more and then we went to eat lunch at a cute little cafe where I put up my feet and ate a chicken salad. I was pretty wooped by then! The break and smoothie we bought afterwards helped rejuvinate me and got me ready for part 2 of the day. We went to China town. That was crazy! My friend, Jennifer, in Texas referred to it as Harwin on sterroids. (Harwin is a street in Houston that sells everything from cheap jewelry to perfume.) I think it was worse. It was crazy chaotic and the two of us were ready to get out of there quick. The best part was we found a sample store. They sell REALLY expensive clothes for super cheap. That's about all I got out of it. Stacy loved it and got these really nice jeans for more than 50% off as well as a couple of other things. I didn't really buy anything since my body is in the process of changing. No point I guess...hahahha...
After that, we got back on the subway and came back to her apartment to get ready for dinner tonight. That should be fun and good...Mmmmmm...Italian food!

NYC - Day 1
I'm in NYC right now. It's raining and NASTY out today...but the rest of the weekend is supposed to be great. Today I slept in til 10 AM...good thing Stacy called me and woke me up! LOL I took Benadryl and didn't go to bed til 1 AM Eastern time. I then got up and started walking around. I ended up at St. Paul's Chapel. This church is across from ground zero and it's where all the emergency workers went to rest. It is also where all the volunteers went to help give relief to the emergency workers through their services such as massage therapist or chiropractor. It was very sombering to walk thru the church, see the pictures, see the cards, letters, etc. I took pictures and will upload them when I get back along with all the pictures I plan to take this weekend. Anyhow, walking through the church was like going back to 9/11 all over again. I teared up at times just remembering what it was like right after it happened and the emotions I felt and the nation felt and what it must've been like back then in NYC.
I haven't actually visited ground zero, just walked by it. It is basically two 1 block holes in the ground with a 20 ft high chain link fence around it. I plan to visit it again on Monday before I leave. It is just to wet and rainy to pay my respects and mean it. It's also amazing how close the buildings are next to it. I only seen one building being rebuilt, so I guess the buildings next the WTC are the original buildings. The tv footage we watched over and over again run through my mind and I imagine everyone running away. It looked like so much room on tv....the streets and buildings are so close. I can't imagine how chaotic it must've been.
After I found my way back to Trinity church I met Stacy for lunch and then I went shopping at Pier 17 which is basically a shopping area on the Hudson River. It is a typical tourist mall and so I did some shopping and then decided to come back to her apartment since the weather sucks so much. Also, Baby Boudrie was making me sleepy and I have a long night ahead of me. We are going to go see Stomp. I am so excited! So, I thought I better rest. I bought some coffee (1/2 caf) on the way back to her apt. like 25-30 min ago and it is still too hot to drink. LOL
Well, I was excited to share so I thought I'd let you know what I was up to. :) I can't wait til the weather clears up so I can really enjoy the city and not be miserable and wet. LOL The life of the city girl. I"m loving my visit, but couldn't live here.
Her apt is very different from our Texas life. Our home of 1420 sq ft is considered VERY small in Texas. You walk in to a nice building, almost like a hotel, and there is a door man there waiting to help. I know this because I had to ask for his help several times already! Including asking for help to get into Stacy's apartment. HA! Anyhow, she has a typical apartment for NYC. She lives next to Tiffany's Co. and across the street from one of Trumps buildings...I think it is the one that is on Trump's show.
The streets are very narrow. I plan to take pics of them on Monday as well.
It is pretty easy to get around though. Actually, very easy! Everything makes sense and is easy to follow as long as where you need to end up. This country girl will survive in the Big Apple! What an experience! A lot for one day huh? Ha!
I hope everyone is doing well in their world! On a side note...I went the doctor on Wednesday and Baby Boudrie is doing well! I'm starting to show, but it is still not too noticeable. My next appointment is in June. We hope to find out what it is then! In the meantime, I'll just buy cool NYC baby stuff....

I haven't actually visited ground zero, just walked by it. It is basically two 1 block holes in the ground with a 20 ft high chain link fence around it. I plan to visit it again on Monday before I leave. It is just to wet and rainy to pay my respects and mean it. It's also amazing how close the buildings are next to it. I only seen one building being rebuilt, so I guess the buildings next the WTC are the original buildings. The tv footage we watched over and over again run through my mind and I imagine everyone running away. It looked like so much room on tv....the streets and buildings are so close. I can't imagine how chaotic it must've been.
After I found my way back to Trinity church I met Stacy for lunch and then I went shopping at Pier 17 which is basically a shopping area on the Hudson River. It is a typical tourist mall and so I did some shopping and then decided to come back to her apartment since the weather sucks so much. Also, Baby Boudrie was making me sleepy and I have a long night ahead of me. We are going to go see Stomp. I am so excited! So, I thought I better rest. I bought some coffee (1/2 caf) on the way back to her apt. like 25-30 min ago and it is still too hot to drink. LOL
